Economy & Job Market
The Greater Orlando metropolitan area has a strong and burgeoning economy that provides residents of Union Park and the surrounding communities with a plethora of business and employment opportunities. When one thinks of Orlando, amusement parks and other family-friendly attractions automatically come to mind. But aside from the Walt Disney World Resort, Sea World, and Universal Studios, the Greater Orlando area is also known for its agricultural and citrus industries, its military defense and aerospace sectors (Lockheed Martin operates in Orlando), and as a growing center for technology (Electronic Arts, Siemens and Oracle Corporation are all headquartered here). Additionally, Orlando also serves as the biotechnology hub for the Burnham Institute.
Parks & Recreation
Union Park residents have access to the community’s two main parks: Blanchard Park and Downey Park. Blanchard Park features its own YMCA, where community programs, classes and activities are provided to the public. Residents can even take advantage of the park’s basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts, take a brisk walk around the park’s nature trails, go canoeing in the lake, camp in their RVs, or just enjoy a quiet picnic. Downey Park features a splash playground, sand beach, designated picnic areas and playgrounds, a baseball and softball complex, and an off-leash dog park. Downey Park also hosts a number of programs throughout the year, including a day camp for children ages five to twelve called Camp Scooter; the Junior Magic basketball program; a Teen Hype Night, which is held on the second Saturday of every month; and Santa’s Wacky Wonderland.
If you’re looking to play a round or two of golf, then you’re in luck as Union Park is situated near three golf courses—the Rio Pinar Country Club, Eastwood Golf and Country Club, and Fairways Country Club. Many more golf courses and country clubs can be found throughout the Orlando metro area, providing residents with endless opportunities to practice their swing for days on end.
